A figure is given before the van leaves, for the job as it was described on the call: the vehicle, the size, the place it is standing and the work wanted. That figure is the tyre, the fitting, the balance, a new valve and taking the old casing away.

If what is on the car turns out to be a different size, or a nut is rounded off, or the ground will not take a jack, the work stops at that point and a second figure is given before anything else happens. You can say no to it.

A puncture is repaired when the injury sits in the central three quarters of the tread, is no wider than 6 mm, and the tyre has not been run flat. Outside those limits it is a replacement. The limit is the British Standard every fitter works to, and which side of it you are on is said before the wheel comes off, not after.

Arrival is an estimate, never a window. The M25 between junctions 23 and 24, the A1(M) and a job in front of yours that runs long all move it, and you are told when it has moved rather than left guessing.

Work can be refused where it cannot be done safely: a live lane with no refuge, ground too soft or too steep for a jack, or a space too tight to take a wheel off. That is a judgement made at the kerb, and it is not negotiable.

You have to own the vehicle or have the authority to order work on it. Locking wheel nuts need their key, or the removal is part of what is being priced. Wrong fuel: leave the engine off and the ignition out, because a pump that has primed turns a drain into a workshop job.

Payment falls due at the vehicle once the work is finished, unless something else was agreed on the call. Card is the usual method. Tyres and parts stay ours until the money has cleared.

A vehicle is recovered when it cannot safely be driven. The destination is settled with the figure before the truck moves, and it is an address you name — a home, a garage, or somewhere to stand until morning. There is no yard of ours at the other end.

The pages here describe the work and name the districts on the service area list. A district page says the van drives that ground; it does not promise the van is free at a given hour, and nothing written on the site is a price until one has been given for your job.
