N8 service area

Crouch End Broadway is a clock tower and six converging roads with no through route for traffic that does not want to be there. That keeps speeds down and makes the district safer to work in than most of Haringey.

What it does not do is create parking. Every street off the Broadway is permit-controlled and full, and Hornsey Vale runs up a steep hill with parking on both sides and room for one car to pass.

Turnpike Lane at the eastern end is the opposite in every way: an A road, a bus station, a tube station and constant movement. Debris punctures are far more common at that end than in the village.

Hornsey itself sits between the two, with the High Street and the railway cutting through. Middle distance from base, down Green Lanes or the A1000.

Steep street, permit bay, no space

Where a road is too narrow or too steep to work on safely, the fix is usually thirty metres away — a wider stretch, a flatter section, a side turning. If the car can still be moved at walking pace on a flat tyre for that short a distance without further damage, we will say so. If it cannot, we work where it is.

N8: give us the road and the tyre size

Call and tell us where the vehicle is standing and what is on the sidewall. If the size has gone with the tyre, the make, model and year will do. We confirm what we are bringing before the van moves.
