WD7 service area
Radlett is one long high street on Watling Street with a station halfway down it and residential roads running off both sides at right angles. Parking is angled, kerbs are high, and the wheels we see damaged there have almost all been damaged stationary.
Shenley is four miles of lane away and behaves nothing like it. Radlett Lane and the roads around Shenley Park are open, quick and edged with grass that hides a drop. Shenleybury is barely more than the London Road with buildings along it.
Only four places sit in this district, so it is a short list — but it is a district we drive rather than a district we pass through, because the M25 does not help here. Getting between Radlett and Shenley means the lanes either way.
Both halves are within the close band from Potters Bar via Shenley or Watling Street.

Angled parking and kerbed rims
Most of the alloy damage on a high street happens at walking pace. A kerbed rim is cosmetic until the bead seat is scored, at which point the tyre will lose air slowly and keep doing it after a re-inflate. If a wheel needs topping up more than once a fortnight, that is worth a look.
