N20 service area
N20 is the bottom of Barnet Hill, and the A1000 High Road through Whetstone is one of the roads we drive most often in this whole territory.
Whetstone is a long parade with side turnings, bus stops and a constant stream of delivery vehicles pulling in and out. Kerb strikes at low speed are routine. So are punctures from the general litter of a busy high road.
Totteridge Lane is the surprise. Within half a mile of the High Road it turns into a green lane with a pond, no pavement in stretches and vehicles parked half on the verge. Verge parking on a soft edge in winter is how a wheel ends up dropped and a sidewall gets pinched against the kerb face.
Oakleigh Park is quiet residential, with a station and the parking pressure that comes with one. All three are close band from base — straight down the Great North Road.

Dropped a wheel off a verge?
The damage from that is usually to the inner sidewall, which you cannot see without turning the wheel to full lock or getting underneath. If the car has been recovered from a soft verge and the steering feels normal, it is still worth a two-minute look before a fast road.
N20: give us the road and the tyre size
Call and tell us where the vehicle is standing and what is on the sidewall. If the size has gone with the tyre, the make, model and year will do. We confirm what we are bringing before the van moves.
