Green Lanes is the A105 and it runs the whole way through this district as a shopping street, a bus route and a rat run, depending on the hour.
Winchmore Hill has a green, a station and a set of narrow roads around both. Grange Park is quieter and more suburban, with driveways rather than permit bays — which makes it one of the easier places in London for us to work, because there is space and a flat surface.
Highlands Village is different again: a converted hospital site turned into a large estate with internal roads, speed tables and residents' parking. Speed tables are hard on tyres that are already soft, and taken at any pace they load the sidewall in a way ordinary driving does not.
Close band from base, either through Enfield or down the A111.

Speed tables and soft tyres
A tyre that is 10 PSI down takes a speed table through the sidewall rather than the tread, and that is how a pinch-cut happens at 15mph. If a warning light has been on for a few days and the road home is full of humps, it is worth stopping rather than nursing it back.
