EN1 service area
Two roads define this district and they behave in opposite ways. The A10 Great Cambridge Road is a dual carriageway with a 40 limit that nobody keeps to; the A110 Southbury Road is stop-start retail traffic all day.
Failures on the A10 are the fast kind. A tyre that lets go at speed on that surface takes the sidewall with it, and the wheel usually needs inspecting as well as the rubber replacing. We will say if a rim is bent rather than hanging a new tyre on damaged metal.
Off the main roads, Bush Hill Park and Carterhatch are Edwardian terraces with dropped kerbs every few metres and permit parking on both sides. There is rarely a straightforward place to work, so tell us the house number and which side the affected wheel is on.
Enfield Retail Park is a regular one. Boot loaded, tyre soft on the return, nobody wants to drive it home.

Bent rim, new tyre
After a pothole or a hard kerb strike at speed, the wheel takes the impact before the tyre does. A buckled rim will not hold a bead properly and the new tyre will go down again within days. We check the rim before we fit, and we tell you if it has failed.
