Service area
NW11 service area
Three places, and between them they cover the whole range of what a London street can throw at a wheel.
Golders Green Road is a shopping street with buses, deliveries and double parking from morning to evening. Temple Fortune, on the Finchley Road, is the same traffic moving faster. Hampstead Garden Suburb is neither — private-feeling roads, verges, mature trees and gateposts set close to the drive.
The Suburb produces gatepost and kerb damage almost exclusively. Sharp turn-ins off a narrow road onto a narrower drive, usually at low speed, usually the nearside rear.
There is no easy parking anywhere in NW11, so we plan the approach before we set off. Give us a house number and the side of the road the car is on.

Low-profile tyres and gateposts
On a 35 or 40 profile there is almost no sidewall between the rim and the kerb, so the wheel takes the impact directly. If a low-profile tyre has been struck hard enough to mark the rim, have it checked even if it holds air — the bead seat is where the slow leaks start.
NW11: give us the road and the tyre size
Call and tell us where the vehicle is standing and what is on the sidewall. If the size has gone with the tyre, the make, model and year will do. We confirm what we are bringing before the van moves.
