Brent Cross is the busiest single site in this territory, and the shopping centre car parks generate a steady flow of tyre calls for one simple reason: multi-storey ramps are tight, and drivers scrub the nearside against the kerb line on every turn.
That scrubbing removes rubber from the shoulder rather than the tread, so a tyre can look fine to a quick glance and be down to the belt on the edge. It is worth looking at the outer shoulder of the nearside front on any car that uses these car parks weekly.
The North Circular runs along the southern edge, which is a genuinely poor place to break down — no hard shoulder for much of it and traffic that does not slow. If it happens there, get off at the next exit if the vehicle will do it safely, and call from a side road.
Hendon proper, up around The Burroughs and Brent Street, is normal town work: residential kerbs, permit bays, and a university with a lot of older cars in it.

Shoulder wear from car park ramps
Tread depth gauges are usually pushed into the middle of the tyre, which is where the rubber lasts longest. Check the outer edge as well. If the shoulder is visibly lower than the centre, the tyre is finished regardless of what the middle reads, and it will be the one that lets go first in the wet.
NW4: give us the road and the tyre size
Call and tell us where the vehicle is standing and what is on the sidewall. If the size has gone with the tyre, the make, model and year will do. We confirm what we are bringing before the van moves.
